Gratitude Brings Greatitude

Americans traditionally set aside the fourth Thursday of November as their day of to give thanks...but according to psychologists, one day may not be enough.

Research into gratitude finds that those who weekly "count their blessings" are more optimistic and happier than those that don't. They also sleep better and have fewer physical ailments.

Among their findings, researchers also discovered that doing something nice for someone usually results in that person doing something nice for someone else. Cool News reports on the attitude of gratitude http://bit.ly/vtSP7m

Black Friday. Cyber Monday. Couch Thursday?

Black Friday now begins after the last bite of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving Day. Shoppers no longer wait until the midnight hour to begin purchasing, turning instead to purchasing online. eBay dubbed this new trend "couch commerce".

Mobile phones play a large role in this new shopping experience. Ad Age compiled three strategies to take advantage of couch commerce this season:

  1. Optimize for Mobile Web
  2. Have a "Scan and Scram" Strategy
  3. Own the Couch.

Attracting Boomers and Mature Adults

Religious Radio (teaching and talk formats) serves more than 8 million listeners through 929 stations nationwide. For marketers, the Religious Radio audience is quite attractive.

  1. Adults 45+ make up the bulk of this audience (71%)
  2. More women tuning in than men (a 6:4 margin)
  3. Most listening occurs at home
  4. Strongest listening from 6am - 7pm

Of the 23 formats that Arbitron tracked in its study, Religions Radio had the fourth highest listenership of African Americans and was in the top ten among Hispanic listeners.

These small simple gifts make a positive difference in the lives of those who receive them. Check out the abundance of gifts given last year at http://bit.ly/voulWZ

Online Video Brings Response

Brands increasingly favor online video as an option for their advertising dollars. No matter the preferred method of online video (in-stream - like a commercial during your favorite TV show, or in-banner video within a banner ad that must be launched by the user), online video appears to be the new darling of advertising.

Two recent e-Marketer articles report on the growth of online video advertising http://bit.ly/rsJPbQ and those who are most responsive to it http://bit.ly/rBOLby.

Burst Media found that 18.2% of online video viewers acted on what they saw. More specifically, male viewers 35 years old and older were the most responsive.
