Engaging Social Media Models

Non-profits make social media work, yet many businesses miss the massive impact that non-profits are having with social media.

It's called engagement--and I'm not talking about a shiny ring on your left hand...I'm talking about reaching others on an emotional level.

But, how do you turn a distracted audience into interested active participants? The following two articles from McKinsey Quarterly and Ad Age give you the advantage that non-profits are currently using.

WEEI, the legendary Boston sports radio station, partnered with Southwest Airlines and Vibes Media for a prize package where listeners could win a flyaway trip and tickets to the NBA Finals in Los Angeles.

WEEI promoted the contest through on-air promos, live reads and use of station social media outlets. Contestants were instructed to tune into the WEEI morning show to receive a key word ("Finals") and then were asked to text it in to WEEI's short code.

Over the course of ten minutes, WEEI received 10,154 entries for the contest. The station and the airline were "amazed" at the response from WEEI listeners. Read the entire story at the RAB Radio Sales Today site http://bit.ly/g79M9H
