SHINE-FM Ties Business to Back-To-School

95.1 SHINE-FM (WRBS/Baltimore) is sharing the light with their listeners and school kids. SHINE-FM sent an email invite to their Listener Advisory Board members to enter an exclusive contest to win a mini-concert and lunch with singer Dara Maclean. Twenty Listener Advisory Board winners and their guests lunched with Dara Maclean, enjoyed a mini-concert and received Maclean's new CD.

That evening, SHINE-FM and a local business sponsor hosted a free public concert with Maclean. Concert-goers were asked to bring school supplies for SHINE-FM's Pack the Backpack campaign. Four huge bins of school supplies were collected. Check out the pics from both concerts http://on.fb.me/proLxY

Converting Customers From Your Website

For a business to have an increase in its customer base, it takes more than just a website. Successful websites pay careful attention to the following areas:

  • Ease of navigating the site (where do the links take interested customers?)

  • Product or service information that would help customers make an immediate purchase

  • Easy to find contact information and website construction (is it clean and easy to read?).

MarketingProfs expands on these ways to optimize your website for current and potential consumers. http://bit.ly/nnAML9

Millennials on the Move

Millennials (ages 25-34) are on the move and marketers need to take note.

Millennials are the future family and home buying population. And, as they become older, they will increase their spending by more than $10,000 per household. Texas ranks as the number one state in the total population of millennials (3,613,473). Washington and Colorado round out the top three spots with the largest populations.

Do Daily Deals Deliver?

Research results on daily deals and their attraction is conflicting. The largest asset of a daily deal is customer acquisition. However, a large percentage of customers already loyal to the business also take advantage of the discounts.

Recent surveys found that no clear cut answers exist for daily deal deliverables. eMarketer reports on what businesses need to examine when considering a daily deal offering http://bit.ly/nX6qQn

KLGO Feeds the Need

KLGO/Austin, TX recently went above and beyond in a fund-raiser for Food for the Poor.

Gene Bender, General Manager, credits the teamwork of his staff for the outstanding results. "Dean, our production director, created great liners for us to use, and Amy and Ryan, our drive time announcers really bought into this ministry" said Bender.

"This campaign focused on feeding people, and our listeners could really relate to that. We also partnered with Schlitterbahn to give two free water park tickets to anyone committing to feeding a family of four for an entire year. A twelve dollar a month commitment to feed a family of four, is one that many of our listeners can make."

Radio Listeners "Like" Their Station

In spite of competitive media slashing the viewership of television and print vehicles, listenership for radio continues its consumer appeal over the past four years.

In its TechSurvey7, Jacobs Media discovered that 40% of those surveyed are Facebook friends with their favorite radio station, and 33% of survey respondents use a station's website to get additional information.

While social media avenues are a great way to reach listeners, email remains the best way to communicate. The survey revealed that 75% of respondents use email before any other type of social media in the morning. Nuclear Families Irradiated?

Over the past decade, the number of married families with children has declined in forty-one states.

Only nine states in the US saw an increase in the number of nuclear families. However, nationwide there has been a loss of 1.25 million nuclear families. Nuclear families now comprise more than one-third of consumer spending.

States seeing growth in the number of nuclear family units include Texas, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, Florida and Idaho.

Gaming Your Brand To Win

Half of all internet users between ages 18 and 44 play at least one social game each day. These gamers (54% men and 46% women) play while "waiting"--sometimes even at the office.

The good news for marketers is that nearly 40% of gamers would like to find out more about a product through a gaming avenue. Game social challenge features provide an acceptable entry point for brands, especially if offering product discounts, loyalty program points or a social action.

See if gaming might be your company's way to get more brand recognition in this eMarketer article http://bit.ly/iEeDRH
